Emballator Tectubes is the world’s first manufacturer of In Mould Labelling (IML) tubes. Since injection moulding is one of Emballator Tectubes area of expertise, the step to IML was a natural development for us. A printed plastic label is placed in the tool before the tube material is injection moulded and bonded together with the label.

There are many advantages to IML technology. Because the printing is on the label the decoration opportunities are enormous. 8 Pantone colours in combination with CMYK gives an almost unlimited choice of colours, which means we can offer photographic quality printing. In addition to this, the label can also be decorated with details in metal foil. The printing area is also increased; the print can now extend over the whole tube length without any restrictions on the printing position whatsoever.

Along with the development of the IML tube, we have also developed our own push-on cap that fits perfectly on our tubes. This gives us and our clients tremendous freedom and the ability to choose customised colours in both small and large volumes.

With the high level of automation on our lines, there are no problems with short runs or a series with many different artwork designs. A change never takes more time than simply changing the label. This also creates logistical advantages as we can quickly and easily run smaller batches if necessary.

Of course we thought about the environment as well. Since the label and tube are of the same material, waste sorting it is never a problem. The whole tube is sorted as plastic and can therefore be recycled. Additionally, the IML and injection moulding production is highly automated, avoiding waste and saving energy.

Development continues and we hope to introduce many new innovations with our IML tube.
