Blown film extrusion is a process that’s commonly used to make flexible films. A tube of polymer is melted and blown through a die, causing it to inflate, forming a large bubble. This bubble is then formed into a variety of products, often polythene bags or shrink or stretch wrap, together with multi-layered barrier films up to seven layer. This process is particularly popular in the packaging industry, where the quick turnaround and diverse nature of blown film extrusion can fulfil many product runs in a short space of time.
