Advance Packaging Technologies

Advance Packaging Technologies began in 1987 as a bag supplier to the local agricultural market, consisting of mostly potato farmers. We grew and re-branded to reflect the changing technologies of our industry. Today, we are an important supplier to the Automotive, Food and the Industrial industries covering the continental US, Mexico and Canada.

Rob Cohen purchased Advance Bag Manufacturing Company, an agricultural packaging supplier in 1987. With a background in the industrial packaging industry, Rob hired his first salespeople in 1988 and began the transition to industrial & food packaging. The company grew by being a full service supplier focusing on films and bags, utilizing the then new technology of co-extruded films to offer innovation and cost savings to its customers. The growth forced a move in 1990 to our current location in Waterford, Michigan. In 1995, the name was changed to Advance Packaging Technologies to better reflect the mission and product mix of the company. In 1998, we were awarded ISO certification to further service the Automotive industry and distinguish our level of service from the competition. We have maintained the accreditation since.

Continuing growth through innovation, Advance developed a product line of adhesive films in 2000 for the Auto Industry and other industrial segments. By customizing multi-layer film structures for each application, this market segment grew into its own division in 2004 with the creation of the Specialty Films Division of Advance Packaging Technologies. Specialty Films services the domestic and international automotive markets.

We recently added 50% more warehouse space in Waterford to handle the increased volume of products. We also utilize 12 warehouses across the country for JIT deliveries. Our suppliers maintain AIB, IMS and BRC accreditation for films that ship into food facilities. In 2013, our Retail Division began selling retail pouches and films to further penetrate the food markets.

We began as an Ag supplier to the potato farmers around Detroit and have grown into an international supplier of technologically driven films and packaging. We have grown over 18 times our original sales.
